1999 - 1900United States of America

The establishment of the Division of Industrial Hygiene in the Labor Department of the State of New York and the Office of Industrial Hygiene and Sanitation of the U.S. Public Health Service in 1913 and the Industrial Hygiene Section of the American Public Health Association in 1914 signaled the beginnings of industrial hygiene as a distinct professional field.
